The Consultants' Caff — some things never change if you never ask the price.

So, how much does a business coach cost in the UK?

Right. Here it is. Black and white.

If you've been searching for business coach cost UK, you're probably finding a lot of information that doesn't actually tell you what you want to know.

Somewhere between £100 and £3,500 a month.

Group coaching sits at the bottom end. One-to-one with someone who's actually run a business — not just collected certificates — sits at the top end. And right at the top, VIP days and intensive packages: £1,000 to £10,000 a shot.

That's the range I found when looking at business coaching prices in the UK.

Try getting it out of most coaches' websites, though.

Good luck.

I'll tell you why later.

Why the range is so wide

A few things push the price up or down. Mostly it's the add-ons. Coaches don't want you comparing on price alone — they want you comparing apples with apple pie, not apples with pears.

Experience. A coach who's worked with hundreds of businesses and can point to specific results charges more than someone three months into their certificate.

Format. One-to-one costs more than group, because it's just you and them for the hour, not you and them and eleven other business owners.

Depth. A programme with weekly sessions and support between them costs more than a monthly check-in call.

Specialism. A coach who only works with your kind of business — same sector, same size, same headaches — can charge for that fit.

Value. A ten percent improvement is worth ten times more to a £3million business than a £300k one. The price follows the size of what's at stake.

None of this is a scandal.

It's just market forces in action.

Why won't coaches just tell you?

This is the bit that drives me right up the pole. [insert extreme expletive].

And I don't think I'm the only one.

Most business coaches will not put a number on their website. You fill in a form. You book a "discovery call" that turns out actually to be a sales call. Somewhere in there, a price appears.

Surprise, surprise — it's suspiciously in line with what you can afford.

I'm not saying every coach who does this is being sneaky. It's just the way they've been told to do it — it's how the market works, and it's how plenty of businesses operate.

Ever tried buying a Rolls-Royce?

You don't find the price on the website there either.

But if you've ever come off one of those calls more confused about the cost than when you rang, you're not imagining it.

That's not a broken system working badly.

That's the system working as designed.

Why write something like this at all?

Because I'm trying to build some know, like, and trust with the people who read it — and I can't think of a better way of doing that than being straight about what I charge.

Judge for yourself how well it's worked.

If you've read this far, you'll realise I'm not like most businesses.

I don't subscribe to that model.

So here we are — this is what I charge, in full, before you've even spoken to me on the phone:

Wednesday Workshop — free.

A weekly co-working session on Zoom, 7am, 22 minutes minimum.

No pitch attached.

The Diagnostic — £60.

A proper look at your business before either of us commits to anything bigger.

The 90-Day Calibration — £480

Or £160 a month over three months.

My main coaching programme.

Prices as of today, above.

The Diagnostic won't stay at sixty pounds much longer — I can't keep up with the demand, so it's going up. Same market forces as everyone else; I don't get to dodge them either.

Check the website if you want the current numbers.

Go looking somewhere else for a straight answer if you fancy your chances — see how you get on.

That's up to you.

I'm not telling you where to look.

That's it.

No "get in touch for a quote."

If those numbers rule me out, you've lost five minutes finding that out, not five weeks.

So is it worth it?

Do you know what — I can't answer that for you.

That one's really up to you.

I can give you the prices. I can tell you what happens in the room. What I can't tell you is what it's worth, because that comes down to how much value you actually get out of it — and that part's yours, not mine.

That might sound like a bit of a punt. It probably is, a little.

It comes down to how much you trust yourself to get the results you need, whatever coach you end up with.

I'll be honest — I didn't enjoy writing this bit. I've tried to be straight with you through the whole of this, and this is the one place I can't give you a straight answer.

I hate saying "it depends."

But here, it genuinely does.

What are you actually paying a coach for?

For what it's worth: knowledge is cheap.

You can get most of it from a book, a YouTube video, or an evening with ChatGPT.

What you're actually paying a coach for is someone making sure you do the thing you already half-know you should be doing.

A coach who hands you the right answer and a coach who gets you to actually do something with it are not the same £480.

If that's what you're after, pop your email in here.

That's it — no discovery call, no pitch at the other end of it.

Just the email.

You'll get one email a week.

No flannel, unsubscribe whenever you like.
